Hey ah there. I am a fan. My fave is Castle in the Sky. Why?: Because of all of it's components. The orchestration piece is incredible (besides Howl's Moving Castle Waltz). The way it builds up makes me try to decipher all the instrumental parts that are involved. The story line was also great and well put together. Much better than other animation movies I have seen over the years. And finally, it's just that style that was put into the entire movie. Miyazaki's style of air machinary and art designs of such mechanism turned out great in this movie. All in all, I thought it was the most enjoyable, even though I am willing to watch any Miyazaki film that's out there. (I am really excited to get a hold of Anne of Green Gables, an animation adaption Miyazaki co-animated in the early 70's). Porco Rosso is a close second though. In one interview, Miyazaki said he always drew himself as a pig, so that movie was all about his dreams/perspective. It's always nice when an animation creator puts him/herself into their own story.
